A formal training program
for pipe fusion operators has been established in Ontario.
Led by Jan Nyquist, owner of Pipefusion Services Inc., the Fusion Training Institute was founded to provide hands-on instruction in the techniques, procedures and documentation necessary to ensure that polyethylene pipe is being fused properly.
Nyquist has over two decades of experience in the PE pipe industry.
Correctly made, PE pipe joints are equally as strong as the pipe itself, said Nyquist. Incorrectly joined pipe can fail and cause significant expense and disruption to the owner or installer, as well as liability incurred for damages resulting from inferior workmanship.
Nyquist plans to provide fusion training courses throughout Canada and the United States. Two program options are offered --- attending a regularly scheduled course at the Huntsville, Ontario institute headquarters or a trainer can provide instruction at the user's facility or work site with a mobile training classroom. The institute is designed for distributors, municipal officials, mining companies, trenchless contractors, directional drilling, dredging, and waterworks contractors engaged in pipe joining activities.
In related news, Christie Manufacturing (now Connectra Fusion Technologies™,
LLC) announced the appointment of Pipefusion Services Inc. as its exclusive
Canadian distributor (British Columbia excluded) of its full line of plastic
pipe joining equipment. Pipefusion
has also been granted representation in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. |
